Angela Dufresne speaks with Arts Magazine about her painting “Examinations,” 2020 [Oil on Canvas, 108” x 144”] in her current show “Long and Short Shots” at Yossi Milo Gallery, ending March 20, 2021. She compares the painting to Robert Bresson’s film “L’Argent” (1983) that employs color to direct viewers to the political and economic environment of early 80s Paris. Dufresne creates worlds in which people can enjoy each other without burdens of crippling self-awareness or external controls.
